Position Overview
As Project Manager, you will be responsible for overall supervision and successful execution of Building Automation System projects from bid award through completion and ongoing client support. This role requires technical knowledge of HVAC controls, strong leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate across multiple teams and stakeholders. You will serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and internal staff, representing Bedard Controls in the field and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all aspects of BAS projects, ensuring adherence to design, schedule, and financial goals (full P&L ownership of assigned projects).
- Serve as the primary point of contact with clients, mechanical contractors, general contractors, and subcontractors—often as the sole Bedard Controls representative on site.
- Lead, coordinate, and mentor internal teams including engineering, field technicians, and subcontractors to ensure project milestones are met.
- Act as the primary decision-maker to resolve problems, field issues, and change requests quickly and effectively.
- Develop, monitor, and update project schedules, budgets, and forecasts to maintain accuracy and profitability.
- Review design documents, submittals, RFIs, and change orders, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with project scope.
- Conduct regular project meetings with stakeholders, providing updates and ensuring open communication.
- Maintain strong client relationships through exceptional communication, problem-solving, and service delivery.
- Represent Bedard Controls with professionalism, confidence, and technical expertise.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience managing BAS, HVAC controls, or related mechanical/electrical projects.
- Strong technical understanding of HVAC systems and building automation controls.
- Proven experience managing project budgets, schedules, and client expectations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and own decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Johnson Controls Metasys, Tridium Niagara, or similar BAS platforms.
- Experience coordinating with general contractors, mechanical contractors, and subcontractors on large-scale construction projects.
- Background in construction management, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering.
- Excellent negotiation skills with experience handling change orders, contracts, and scope adjustments.
- Strong technical understanding of HVAC systems, energy efficiency strategies, and integration with building automation.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships while balancing technical and financial responsibilities.
